About Me

I will try not be too verbose here but the original reason for this blog is fairly complex. I’ll keep it simple for now though and share more in my individual posts.

I started running during the worst time of my life when I was fast losing my incredible Dad to cancer. He meant the world to me and I feel the loss of him daily. During this time, my brother, who is inspiringly fit, got me off the couch and to my first parkrun. Since then, it’s been an up and down game for me but the short of it is, I fell in love with trail running and my only regret is I never started earlier.

I have had a few stop/starts because of some injuries – not because of trail running but because of pushing myself too much. I’m a bit of an extremist in the sense that I love huge challenges, lots of pressure (even though I will say I hate pressure!) and being told that I can’t. Nothing makes me want to do it more. Running has brought out a self competitiveness I thought was long dead. I’m elated to have found it again.

Another joy running (particularly trail) has brought to me is the fabulous people I’ve met along the way. Hopefully you’ll all share your stories and comment on mine as I continue with this blog (that I’ve allowed to gather dust). I’m pleased to say, I’m back!

Find me here or in the mountains!

  1. Oh wow! I stumbled across your blog and I am so happy I did! I am also running my first 42km this year, not going to Paris tho (Lucky Girl!) – I will be running Kaapsehoop in Nelspruit in Nov. Looking forward to following your journey and rooting for you! We got this! X
